Border EO is Short-Sighted and cruel

Nevada’s immigrant families want long term solution that keep families together

Las Vegas, NV –– Today, just 11 days before the 12th anniversary of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), President Joe Biden announced a new border Executive Order that limits asylum and does nothing to address the root causes of migration or long term solutions for mixed status families, undocumented spouses of US citizens, or people with DACA.

White House Fact Sheet

The Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada released the following statement in response to the executive order.

Laura Martin, Executive Director of the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada said:

“The White House must do more than live out Stephen Miller and Donald Trump mass deportation fantasies. We can’t just continue a legacy of inaction for undocumented immigrants and mixed status families. Our families deserve work permits, not fear-mongering, and victim blaming. We are calling on the Biden-Harris Administration to take a balanced approach and take action for Dreamers, DACA recipients, and mixed status families. Work permits for this population would benefit over 100,000 Nevada families.
